1. Career Advisory Group (CAG) As a NUST student or Alumni, you have access to Career Advisory Group (CAG) at Career Services. Some of the areas that can be addressed in career advise include: • Exploring your interest, skills and values

2. Resume and Cover Letter Assistance
Resume is one of the basic key for stepping into the job market. Resume is generally a piece of paper (or it can also be an electronic document as per requirement), that serves the purpose to give, a thorough and comprehensive introduction to the company or people who will eventually hire a person based on skills, qualification.In order to write a resume, a person should have ample information about himself and should thoroughly assess his personality, accomplishments, and the skills that he has acquired. 3. Interviewing Skills

During this process, the employer hopes to determine whether or not the applicant is suitable for the job. A job interview is different from a social conversation, a networking occasion and an information gathering meeting. In typical interview situations, it’s normal to feel like you are at a disadvantage. After all, your interviewer has something that you want “a job”. Career prospects need to hit the ground running and be well acclimatized to their chosen career path. Therefore internship is necessary to gain practical knowledge and is resourceful in different ways:

Job Search is process of seeking job or employment, that involves chain of processes .In order to compete in today’s job market a person needs to have ample information about the job market and whether the job is according to a person’s interest or not . 6. Counselling Choosing the right career can be difficult, but having a defined career direction will help you with getting a job. But with hard work you can accomplish that goal. Here are some tips that can help you.Know what your skills are.

If you’re not sure what career you want, so try and brainstorm and write a list of your qualities as you can. Think about factors like whether you will prefer working alone or with others, and how these attributes can help you in doing your job efficiently.

Talk to your family and friends what they think you’re good at, because you may have skills that you are not even aware of. Also talk to a career adviser. They will help you in assessing your skills and personality and help you in developing ideas about career options.
- Know Your Priorities
Take your time decide what your priorities are.
- Think about factors like your salary
- The distance you want to travel
- Whether a job offers security or not
Decide whether you want to aspire for a goal which may be risky to attain, or choose some safe option that offers more security.

Look for a job that suits you. Once you have an idea of what line of work you want to be in, it’s important to do lots of research. 7. Letter Of Recommendation (LOR) A letter of recommendation is a letter from a supervisor, instructor, or similar authority figure which recommends a particular candidate for a position.
- You may also hear a letter of recommendation called a reference letter.
- Such letters are commonly required for acquiring internships.
- A well-written letter of recommendation is uniquely customized to the person and the type of position the person is applying for.

8. Career Library More than 200 books are available in Career Services to assist NUST students in their career journey. Major-related information, Job Search, Resume Writing, Negotiation, Communication skills, Salary Negotiation and Industry Information books are available. The office helps to connect students with their potential employers through Job Fairs and Employer Sessions thus acting as a mediating office for both Employers and Graduates. 1. Career/Job Fairs In order to network with employer giants like Microsoft, Nestle’, Unilever and many more, Career Development Centre (CDC) conducts Annual Job Fairs where by “Graduate Profile Books” accompanied by students final projects are displayed for employers benefit. Graduates are interviewed and recruited on campus. This offers excellent opportunities to explain careers, talk to professionals in their field, network and practice their Professional skills.

Career – Development Workshops In order to build better Careers, training modules are organized at various Colleges and Schools to help graduates and students learn managerial skills, interviewing techniques, Resume’ editing and confidence building.
