The Punjab government has decided to introduce an internship scheme on the basis of merit for students doing graduation and post-graduation. They would be given Rs10,000 per month throughout their internship period, said PML-N MNA Malik Shakil Awan while talking to ‘The News’ here on Thursday.

He said that Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, after the laptop scheme, is now determined to encourage bachelor’s and master’s students through an internship scheme. The Punjab government will financially assist students attending classes in government colleges. Every internee will get Rs10,000 per month throughout the internship period.

According to him, the Punjab chief minister will announce the internship scheme on July 2 for 100,000 students across the province.

The PML-N MNA said that the internship scheme will be a kind of contract employment in schools and colleges. The students showing good performance during their internship period would be accommodated in schools and colleges whenever any vacancy of teacher falls vacant in the respective academic institution. The scheme will be enforced with immediate effect after announcement by the chief minister, he said. via, thenews
